Trade-A-Thon Rules:
Saturday, August 2nd, 2025
2 PM - 9 PM
$30 Entry for Week 1
$15 for weeks 2-7
$25 Finale ($15+10 for food!)
At 2 PM (or upon arrival), players will be randomly assigned a commander from our list of 30 possible commanders! Each player will receive a commander, a deck box, sleeves of their choice, and a collection of staples for that commander.
Players are allowed one re-roll, but players who do not use the reroll receive a bonus point to start the league! If you decide to reroll at all, that point is forfeit (even if you do not select your new option).
Quick Rules:
After being assigned your commander, you must build and submit a commander deck by the end of the Trade-A-Thon. That deck must contain exactly 100 cards. You can do this by buying, selling, and trading with the store and with other participants.
There is a limit of $5/card, but there is no budget limit for the deck itself this week!
Future limits will be $10/week and $5/card
During the Trade-A-Thon, you can buy three (3) different booster packs from the store, and the contents of each will be fair game regardless of value.
Before you leave, you must drop off your finished starting deck plus a deck list with the store for verification. We will contact you if we need any further information or if there are deck issues.
In-Depth Rules
For deck construction, each card must be less than $5. There is no upwards budget limitation for the whole deck!
Trades must not be lopsided or unfair. Trades should be agreed upon by all parties. When in doubt, ask an employee to verify prices for you!
Feel free to make trades for cards that would not be part of your deck, or might be part of your deck during a later week.
Example: Steele needs a pile of Luis’s cheap cards for his league deck, and Luis would like Steele’s Three Tree City for a completely different deck. So long as the trade is not lopsided/unfair and both players agree, this trade is fine.
Each player may buy up to three (3) different booster packs to add to their pool. The contents of the packs will be legal for that player regardless of price!
Cards must still be legal to play in every other sense (commander legal and within color identity).
Packs must be laid out and documented by a staff member.
Booster pack contents that are unsubmitted as part of your starting deck will be beholden to future budget limitations ($10/week and $5/card).
After your deck has been assigned, it must remain IN HOUSE during the Trade-A-Thon! Any new card additions must be added and recorded in the store.
By 9 PM, you must submit a starting deck of exactly 100 cards, including assigned commander.
You must leave the deck with us for verification, along with some basic contact information. You will receive your deck back on week 1 if there are no issues, otherwise we will contact you prior to resolve any confusion.
Any illegal cards will be replaced with a basic of the player’s choice within their color identity, or a staple of the player’s choice within the color identity. Be careful! We will do our best to use pricing data accurate to the day of the event if it cannot be located elsewhere.
Deck must remain commander legal, must adhere to your selected commander, and can have no more than 50 cards that are lands on their front face.
You are making your starting deck at the Trade-A-Thon. As such, you can’t have more than 100 cards in your starting deck. Any extra purchases, booster pulls, or trades must wait for future weeks.
After deck submission, you will not be allowed to make any changes until after Week 1.
The weekly budget for Weeks 2 through 8 will be $10 total, $5/card limit, with no restrictions on the number of cards being swapped.
